This, along with the binder in the staff room, is where you can contribute ideas to the new school's design.
Click on the appropriate links and type your heart away in the comment section! (Problem? see Fred S. or email him at sd5 and he’ll post your stuff. Nice, eh?)
If you have some interesting links of your own, by all means, share them with the rest of us!
Ms. D. wants windows: here is why.

It need's to be inviting with a much more inviting look. It would be nice to have a large lobby in the centre of the building that could serve as a spill-out area. They should position most if not all the classrooms facing outwards so that you dont always rely on the interior lighting to light the rooms. You can also incorporate solar panels on the roof to have clean renewable energy which can lower the costs of energy and also heating the building.
ReplyDeleteNON-NEGOTIABLE:
ReplyDeleteEvery corner in and out of the building is easily accessible for ALL staff and students: wheelchair access, colour-coded signs, "touchable" directions for visually-impaired people, etc.
Ideas?

I agree, you walking to the school and there is no grand entrance, its just an ugly yellowish wall with a sign that says "Welcome", however, it doesn't feel welcome, it feels grubby.
ReplyDeleteMaybe some windows and new colours would brigthen it up, also an open space opposed to just walking into a hallway.
that we should have a big green entrence and a big foyier and it should have a moden look and feel to it. I think that would be really cool and it would be welcoming to vistors and vendors that come ot the school
ReplyDeleteAll classrooms should have large windows to emphasize the natural lighting.
ReplyDeleteWe should have a better heating/cooling system. We should be able to control it IN CRANBROOK.
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to have a lot of big windows and a grand entrance. And more artistic arcitecture
ReplyDeleteI agree with the wild designers on the easily accessible for ALL staff and students: wheelchair access, colour-coded signs, "touchable" directions for visually-impaired people, etc.
ReplyDeleteI liked the first image of how the outside of our school should look like.
ReplyDeleteThe school should look fun. Baker is the only high school in Cranny. We should make it look exciting.
ReplyDeleteMountain themed would be nice. maybe the foyer architecture could echo fisher peak?
ReplyDeleteevery inviting and big and moderen big windows
ReplyDeleteClassy, yet functional. Clean, yet inviting. I know lots of people are thinking of some crazy-modern design that is way different from our current building. The space we are in now is old and dirty, and isn't modern, but in twenty years do we want kids to hate the 'old-fashioned' design of our high school? We should definitely update the look, but keep it classic and timeless, if possible.
ReplyDeleteWe should try to make it the best school that reflects our local area - trees, mountains, light from the sunshine, open and airie... inviting and yet safe...
